Diane was the mother of one child and lived in Lorain. She was found stabbed and bludgeoned to death in her home. Her ex-boyfriend was a suspect since he had been upset she started dating someone new. He was not charged with her murder until 2006. In 2009, he was found guilty of aggravated murder.
