Lorain County Safe Harbor offers a wide range of programs and services to support victims of domestic violence and their families. Our comprehensive services include emergency shelter, counseling, legal advocacy, safety planning, and aftercare support.
We also provide specialized programs for children, community education, and outreach initiatives to raise awareness and prevent violence. Our goal is to empower survivors, promote healing, and help families rebuild their lives with dignity and hope.

Shelter
Genesis House exists to provide temporary safety, shelter, food, aid and support to the victims of domestic violence and their children who have reached the decision to leave the violent situation.
Transitions & Aftercare
Our aftercare services are designed to provide children with a safe space to process their experiences, build resilience, and regain a sense of normalcy through counseling, activities, and emotional support.
Legal Advocacy
Lorain County Safe Harbor Legal Advocates work both in the shelter and in Lorain County Municipal Courts to assist victims of domestic violence whose partners have been criminally charged.

Special Populations
Our Special Populations Advocate works to ensure that Domestic Violence victims of advanced age and people with disabilities get the specialized help and support they need as they go through the process of breaking free from an abuser
Community Education
Domestic violence can occur in any relationship, so we offer specialized programming tailored to the specific needs of our audience and address the potential barriers for getting safe.
M.A.P.
Our Men's Anti-Violence Program is a 26-week program for men who have perpetrated domestic violence against a female intimate partner. M.A.P is a victim-focused program that is different from anger management.
Child Advocacy
Our child advocate works with children who have witnessed or have experienced domestic violence understand that they are not alone and help them develop healthy coping skills to survive the experience.
Support Groups
We offer support groups for any survivor in the community over the age of 18 who has experienced abuse from a current or ex romantic partner. These support groups are confidential and facilitated by agency staff.

Our 24/7 hotline is available to provide immediate assistance, support, and guidance to anyone in need. Whether you're facing a crisis, seeking advice, or just need someone to talk to, our compassionate team is ready to help, day or night.
Healthy Relationships
We all have the right to be in healthy relationships. Unfortunately, it’s sometimes easy to confuse our partner’s abusive behavior for love. It’s important to understand how abusive relationships work in order to keep ourselves and our families safe.
For Teens
Lorain County Safe Harbor wants you to be as informed as possible and teach you the warning signs of dangerous relationships, so you will be able to spot them early on and protect yourself from harm.
